The South Valley Junior High Counseling Department seeks to remove barriers to learning and provide opportunities and supports to empower all students to embrace their full 21st Century learning potential and to achieve their educational, social/emotional and career goals.
The South Valley Junior High Counseling Department will implement a comprehensive, K-12 guidance and counseling program providing all students access to developmental and preventative activities and services delivered through the four interrelated program components of guidance curriculum, individual student planning, responsive services, and system support.
South Valley Junior High counselors have a Master's degree or higher in school counseling and have been certified as Professional School Counselors by the Arizona Department of Education. They are professional educators with specialized training in academic, career and social development as well as mental health. In partnership with the family, school and community, SVJHS counselors advocate for the needs and interests of all students.
